We are travelling in an RV to the mid west of NSW. We are headed along the Golden Highway to Merriwa, over 300km from where we first picked up the RV yesterday morning near Sydney airport. What do I see? Farmland, farmland, quarries, and cattle.

I wasn’t sure what to expect when we got to Merriwa. In my head I expected a bunch of tourists to be here clicking away with their cameras. The silos stood alone in their landscape, empty. It’s outside town so it was just paddocks and a few trees. No tour buses.
Have kids? Spottobooks also have an edition for the silo art https://www.spottobooks.com.au/shop/p/silo-art-guide-big-things

‘The Merriwa Silos are the 29th silos to be included in the Australian Silo Art Trail Collection and were completed 23rd April 2019’ – Australian Silo Art Trail
On this silo it tells the story of an event that happens here on the June long weekend called the Festival of the Fleeces. It’s a fund raiser for the Westpac Rescue Helicopter. The yellow you see are the canola fields. The red socks are a quirky story.
This story from October 2024 is one of my Mudgee series that form part of this site. This was the first time travelling in an RV to go to Mudgee wine country via a couple of art silos. My goal, to share adventures as I travel on my scooter.
