Every weekend Burleigh Heads Surf Club roll out their beach mat and display the disabled equipment that can be used on the beach.

Once again I am impressed with this holiday destination for people with mobility issues. These are all a part of the beach access program organised by Gold Coast Council.

So here we have 2 beach wheelchairs of different sizes. Then there is a favourite I want to try. It’s a beach walking frame! I’d like to give that a go. That way if I get sick of getting too hot on the beach I can turn around and head back to some shade without disrupting the family that have gone for a swim

I spoke with a staff member who advises that presently you don’t need to book to use them. Just ask them first.
