People feign disability to use a wheelchair at the airport. That’s the article I’ve been reading today.
We live in a day where people don’t get around on a horse and buggy. We use cars. We use trains and trams. On the street we can hire a Lime bike to make our journey easier, no pedalling required.

‘Flying fakers’: Growing number of travelers accused of abusing airport wheelchair services – Yahoo news
Looks like people want convenience everywhere they can find it. This article focuses on a concerning trend of people using disability services at the airport.
“12 wheelchairs needed to preboard in Miami … and by the time we landed in Atlanta they were all healed!!!
The whole preboarding saga is so ridiculous when you hear the stories. I wonder if that’s why check in for disabled people is taking longer and longer. I allow a couple of additional hours now on top of what I need.
Aside from that I do wonder why are there so little options to get around an airport when we live in a technological age?

Every time I catch a plane I use a wheelchair. My walking frame and mobility scooter get taken at check-in so I need a wheelchair and a lift if I want to fly. Things are booked days in advance with the flight and sometimes your flight is moved around to accommodate your need for a wheelchair. Sure I can prove that I need these things but surely if we take a big picture perspective we can find a tenable option that is a good return on investment.

How do we help people get to where they need to be in a modern economy. In a modern airport. If people are taking advantage of what is there (ie the use of a wheelchair), how can we innovate to get rid of the temptation?
In the meantime I think I need to book a flight from Miami to Atlanta so I can be healed!
